100 days of delivering for Northcote

Today marks the first 100 days of the re-elected Andrews Labor Government – and 100 days of delivery for the people of Northcote.

In just 100 days, we've got a lot done.

Locally, that includes celebrating the opening of two additional lanes on the Chandler Highway Bridge – bringing us closer to completing the full six lanes of the new bridge.

We have seen a new school building open at Fairfield Primary - made possible by $2.5 million in funding, as part of our unprecedented investment in Victorian schools.

In addition, for the first time ever, Northcote Prep students have started school this year with a bag full of books – joining 57,000 Preps in more than 1,200 government primary schools across the state.

These bags include books selected by a panel of teachers, librarians and literacy experts, and have been chosen to help spark our kids’ lifelong love of reading from day one.

Local schools are a priority for me, and I will continue to work hard to ensure our students have the facilities and the support they need to access a quality education.

In Northcote, we have also seen planning underway for the removal of the Bell Street level crossing – with three more local level crossing removals on the way.

And across the state, we've been getting on with the policies and projects that matter to local families.

That includes kickstarting work on our nation's first Royal Commission into Mental Health and passing legislation to enshrine strong new nurse and midwife to patient ratios.

Thousands of Victorian students are already working towards their Free TAFE qualification, while families are saving with solar, thanks to the Labor Government’s Solar Homes program.

This has also been a big 100 days for me personally.

On 22 February, at 3am in the morning and a little earlier than we expected, my husband Julian and I welcomed our daughter Cleo into the world.

Welcoming a new little member to the family has bought us great joy and immense happiness.

Our thanks go out to everyone who has supported us during the last year and to all the wonderful residents of the Northcote Electorate who have reached out to offer their best wishes and congratulations.

Raising a young family is always a challenge, perhaps particularly so when balancing the responsibilities of a Member of Parliament.

But it is my young daughters who continue to inspire and drive me to deliver a better future for our community.

We know our work is far from over.

It’s been 100 days of delivery. And we’re not slowing down.
