UPGRADING BELL PRIMARY SCHOOL BRICK BY BRICK
This year, local families have done an incredible job in supporting students to learn from home. As kids get back into the classroom, we want to make sure they have the fantastic new learning spaces they deserve.
The Andrews Labor Government has built and upgraded more schools than any government in our state’s history, and the Victorian Budget 2020/21 continues that record of investment.
Minister for Education James Merlino and Member for Northcote Kat Theophanous today announced Bell Primary School will receive a $7.172 million upgrade, to deliver the next stage of the school's master plan, including a new school hall.
This investment builds on the $1.18 billion as part of the Building Works Package announced earlier this year, which is creating space for more than 21,000 extra students in Victoria’s education system and creating around 1,600 local construction jobs.
Across Victoria, the Labor Government is delivering 1,460 school upgrades – investing in new classrooms, fixing old buildings and delivering the learning spaces our kids deserve.
The Labor Government’s unprecedented $7.2 billion investment in Victorian school infrastructure is not only creating 7,500 jobs – it is ensuring that ensuring every child has a great local school where they can achieve their best.

"It’s so rewarding to work hand in hand with the Bell School Community and be able to deliver the funding – it’s been some time coming but together we have secured a brighter future for the school.
The school have been making do but soon they will have a space to come together as a whole – and I know how much that means to all the students, parents and staff.
This funding is part of the Andrews Labor Government delivering better schools and driving the economic activity we need to bounce back from this year.”
