The Victorian Government is ramping up support for state sporting associations, associations, leagues, clubs and state sporting bodies doing it tough through the second round of the Community Sport Sector COVID-19 Survival Package.

Member for Northcote today announced applications were open for local associations and leagues to apply for up to $2,000 and clubs to snag up to $1,000 to help them be survive and come back stronger.

Across the Northcote electorate, 38 community sporting clubs have already benefited from the program. These clubs will get an additional $500 payment automatically transferred into their bank accounts. Leagues and associations funded in the first round can expect a $1000 top up, within the next two weeks.

The first round of funding rolled out more than 5,000 of the $1,000 grants to support individual clubs, with 200 leagues and associations securing a share in $1.4 million as well as almost 70 state sporting associations, regional academies and sport bodies scoring more than $12.7 million through the program.

This round, the Government’s $40 million package is taking the support to another level.

The program delivers two categories: grants for state sporting associations and other state sport and recreation bodies are available under Stream 1 and grants of up to $2,000 for leagues and associations and up to $1,000 for individual clubs available under Stream 2.

The Victorian Government is also investing $68 million in shovel-ready community sport and active recreation infrastructure projects across the state, to stimulate jobs and economic activity, and deliver fantastic new projects to local communities as part of the new $2.7 billion Building Works package.
