THORNBURY HIGH SET TO PERFORM AS STADIUM AND ARTS CENTRE OPEN

Thornbury High students have begun the year with a brand-new indoor stadium and performing arts centre, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Northcote, Kat Theophanous formally opened the schools $5 million upgrade with Thornbury High School Principal Michael Keenan. The upgrade includes a competition grade indoor basketball court and gym spaces, as well as a 250-seat performance auditorium, music rooms, media studio and editing suite.

The facility was completed earlier this term and is now in full operation. It is the first stage of the school’s redevelopment. The school community has worked hard to create a masterplan for redevelopment that will bring the schools facilities to modern standards.

The Labor Government has invested $6.1 billion to deliver more than 1,400 school upgrades, supporting over 7,500 construction jobs for Victorians.

A total of 100 new schools will open by 2026 under the Labor Government’s school building boom, ensuring every child has a great local school and a great start in life.

This building boom will continue over the coming years, with the Government having already appointed builders to start delivering 11 schools across the state that will open in 2020 and 14 schools that will open in 2021.

The Labor Government is building the Education State so that every student can access a great local school and a quality education.
