Ms THEOPHANOUS (Northcote): My question is to the Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change and relates to zero-emission vehicles. What is the government doing to accelerate the uptake of electric vehicles in Victoria, especially in the delivery of critical charging infrastructure? More than 25 per cent of all emissions in our state come from the transport sector, which means Victoria must transition quickly to ZEVs as part of our work to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. We know battery range anxiety can deter people from choosing to go electric. The inner north has a couple of charging stations, but residents want to know that they can also travel across our state and about how new buildings can incorporate EV charging points. Locals are pleased to hear about the Andrews Labor government’s zero-emissions vehicle road map, backed by $100 million in initiatives. It includes more charging stations, financial incentives to purchase ZEVs, targets for their sale and electrifying our bus network and government fleet. This will make it easier and cheaper to go electric, address climate change and support jobs. Northcote locals are interested to hear how we are making our buildings and road networks ZEV ready.
