Hi, I’m Kat Theophanous - the Labor Member of Parliament for Northcote in the Victorian Legislative Assembly.
As your local MP I’ve been proud to push for strong climate policies and reducing our reliance on fossil fuels – both locally and statewide.
The Andrews Labor Government is a global leader when it comes to climate action. Our new Climate Change Strategy lays out a clear plan to get to net zero emissions by 2050 and we’ve backed it with the biggest investment in clean energy of any state, ever.
Our plan will make homes energy efficient, decarbonise our transport sector, rapidly expand renewables, drive energy innovation, reduce industry and agricultural emissions and plant millions of trees. In the process, we’re creating thousands of jobs for Victoria.
It will mean less emissions, more jobs and a sustainable future.
Dont forget to read about how the Andrews Labor Government is putting power back in the hands of Victorians here!
$540 million
We’re creating six renewable energy zones to bolster system strength, unlock more clean power and create jobs.
$797 million
We’re making homes more energy efficient and reducing household bills, including by replacing old gas heaters with electric ones and introducing minimum efficiency standards.

We’re planting 4 million trees across 6,000 hectares of land to store carbon in our landscape and help tackle climate change.
$363 million
We’re funding Recycling Victoria to deliver our circular economy policy and fast-track the construction of material recovery facilities with improved technology.
$12.6 million
We’re bringing online more than 600 megawatts of new clean energy with more wind and solar projects – creating enough energy to power all our public transport, schools and government buildings.
$27 million
We’re backing local clean energy projects like microgrids, neighbourhood batteries and community-owned renewable energy projects.
$108 million
We’re preparing Victoria for innovative and transformational renewable energy and hydrogen projects – such as Australia’s first offshore wind generator.
$21 million
We’re helping community groups to install renewable energy systems, storage and energy efficiency improvements and teaching kids about climate change.
$77 million
We’re restoring and protecting vast areas of wilderness impacted by the summer’s fires, protecting threatened species and funding community environmental programs.
$16 million
We’re protecting our coast from climate change through research, policy and on the ground action, including local planting and erosion prevention.
$100 million
We’re electrifying our transport sector with subsidies to purchase ZEVs, new charging infrastructure across our state, a ZEV bus fleet and government fleet, and a target that 50% of all car sales will be ZEV by 2030.
Our work is not yet over – stay tuned for more as we continue to deliver real action for our climate.
