Ms THEOPHANOUS (Northcote): My constituency question is to the Minister for Multicultural Affairs. Minister, what is the state government doing to support our incredible multicultural community organisations as we head into 2021? The Northcote electorate is home to one of the most culturally diverse communities in Melbourne, and we are supported by some truly incredible local organisations. These largely volunteer groups bring people together and share and celebrate our diverse culture, history, heritage and languages and build vital social connections amongst residents. It was incredible to see these local organisations in Northcote share in over $250 000 in funding support last year. Having spoken with many of them, such as Florinian House and the Kos Club, I know how much this funding meant. I am excited to see what this year will bring for our multicultural communities. For our Greek community it is a very special year of celebrations, with the bicentenary of Greece’s independence, which is being supported through our multicultural festivals program. I am looking forward to getting out, visiting and celebrating with all of our groups this year.
