PENDERS GROVE PRIMARY SCHOOL

new inclusive outdoor space for students of all abilities

Investment: $120,000
Status: Completed

Penders Grove Primary is a wonderful, welcoming school on the border of Thornbury and Preston that has been serving our community for almost 100 years.

The Andrews Labor Government has been helping make this diverse and supportive school even better with a $120,000 grant from the Inclusive Schools Fund.

Completed in mid-2020, this funding has delivered a brand new outdoor sensory garden and active play equipment for students to enjoy.

A big congratulation to Principal Douglas Lunt and the school community who worked hard to make this project a reality.

The Inclusive Schools Fund is helping government schools better cater for the social and educational needs of all young people, including those with a disability or additional needs. The new play area at Penders Grove is giving students more opportunities to learn and thrive, and has become a new favourite spot for their outdoor activities.

Since the Inclusive Schools Fund was established by the Labor Government in 2015, more than 300 creative projects to build inclusive learning spaces and inclusive playgrounds have been announced.

Locally, this includes projects at Westgarth Primary, Thornbury Primary, Thornbury High and Croxton Special School.

I’m looking forward to continuing to work closely with Penders Grove Primary to improve opportunities for our local children at this wonderful and caring school.
