BIGGER, BETTER CLASSROOMS FOR FAIRFIELD PRIMARY
Students at Fairfield Primary School are now learning in bigger, better classrooms and school facilities, with the completion of Stage 2 of the school’s upgrade and modernisation.
Member for Northcote, Kat Theophanous, today visited Fairfield Primary School to officially open the new two-storey building on Wingrove Street, across from the main campus.
The building, designed by Hayball Architects and constructed by SJ Higgins Builders, is part of a $7 million upgrade secured in 2019. The upgrade delivers modern learning spaces for the school’s senior students, while making room for Fairfield Primary to grow and embrace more families over the years – with space for 200 more students.
Expanding the school to the new site has given the school the opportunity to open up more play spaces for the junior students on the existing campus, with these works due to be completed in April 2021.
Fairfield Primary students have already been enjoying the new learning spaces completed in Stage 1 of the school’s modernisation. The $2.5 million project saw the addition of a new two-storey building, opened in 2019 by Ms Theophanous. It incorporates six new learning spaces, a common area for students to gather, bathrooms and a lift.
These upgrades are a part of the Andrews Labor Government’s investment of more than $9 billion to deliver more than 1,600 school upgrades, supporting over 10,000 construction jobs for Victorians.
A total of 100 new schools will open by 2026 under the Labor Government’s school building boom, ensuring every child has a great local school and a great start in life.
This building boom will continue over the coming years, with significant capital works now completed, funded or underway across nine schools in the Northcote Electorate.
The Labor Government is building the Education State so that every student can access a great local school and a quality education.
