MORE SUPPORT FOR NORTHCOTE SPORTS CLUBS

The Allan Labor Government is backing Northcote sport clubs with grants to help more people get involved in the sports they love.

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence today announced that 875 grants will go to more than 740 clubs statewide, who will share in more than $1.2 million from the Sporting Club Grants Program.

These grants support clubs to purchase uniforms and equipment, upskill volunteers, coaches and officials, and improve their accessibility and engagement with local communities.

In Northcote, the funding is making a tangible difference for grassroots sports:

  • The Red Tag Fly Fishers' Club Inc will receive $5,000 to support certified casting instructor training.

  • North Alphington Cricket Club Inc will receive $4,125 for a coach development and volunteer recognition program.

  • Thornbury Turf Strokers Cricket Club will receive $900 to purchase locally made cricket balls for their junior players.

The Sporting Club Grants Program has provided more than $18 million to thousands of community sport and recreation clubs across the state over the past decade.

From playground redevelopments to new sporting precincts, investments like these provide high-quality and accessible places for Victorians to reap the benefits of sport and active recreation.
