CONSULTATION OPENS TO IMPROVE MERRI COMMON & SURROUNDS
Community consultation has now opened for Northcote residents to have their say on draft plans to improve Merri Common and three surrounding parks and open spaces.

We are improving these open spaces so people can better exercise, relax or just enjoy the outdoors
In 2022, the Victorian Labor Government committed $1.5 million to Darebin Council to fund an uplift to Merri Common reserve near Merri Train Station in Northcote.
The commitment followed strong advocacy from the State Member for Northcote, Kat Theophanous, in support of residents who have long called for the VicTrack land to be made more useable and welcoming.
With these funds, Darebin Council has worked with the Victorian Government to expand the scope to nearby council-owned sites, to deliver improved accessibility and amenity across the interlinking locations.
Draft Concept Designs have now been developed and we are seeking community feedback to ensure the improvements meet local needs. This includes feedback on more shade, renewed paths, seating, play equipment and a proposed bike track for young children.
Locals are encourage to review the proposed designs and share their thoughts by 6 April via the link below.
