MAJOR WORKS TO KEEP ROUTE 11 TRAMS ON TRACK
The Andrews Labor Government is carrying out major works on Route 11 at the St. Georges Road and Miller Street Junction to keep services running smoothly.
Yarra Trams will carry out the $3.9 million worth of works from Sunday 10 November until Thursday 21 November, as part of the Labor Government’s ongoing plan to improve Melbourne’s public transport.
The works will include digging up and laying of new tracks along St Georges Road and Miller Street and replacing the overhead power lines, to improve services for the 12 million passengers who catch the Route 11 every year.
During the works, St. Georges Road between Oakover Road and Rennie Street and Miller Street between Davies Street and the junction, will be closed to through traffic in both directions between 2:00am Sunday 10 November and 5:00am Thursday 21 November.
To enable works to be carried out safely, parking will be temporarily removed on Miller Street between Davies Street and the junction until the competition of works.
Yarra Trams has notified local residents and businesses in the area about the works so they can plan ahead.
Route 11 tram services will operate between Victoria Harbour Docklands and Westbourne Grove/St Georges Road (Northcote High School), with a bus replacement service running between Stop 27 – Westbourne Grove/St Georges Rd (Northcote High School) and the West Preston terminus.
Temporary signage will advise drivers, passengers and locals for alternative arrangements during works.
