Falcons set to soar at new female friendly pavilion
More Preston women and girls are set to take to the field with a new female friendly pavilion thanks to funding from the Andrews Labor Government.
Member for Northcote Kat Theophanous formally opened the upgraded pavilion today at the popular WH Robinson Reserve in Preston, home of the Druids Cricket Club and the Darebin Falcons football, cricket, soccer and 8-ball sides.
The upgrade was made possible with a $100,000 grant from the Labor Government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Fund – Female Friendly Facilities.
WH Robinson Reserve is home to the Preston Druids and the 550 plus dedicated female players of the Darebin Women’s Sports Club, who until now have made do with inadequate facilities.
The clubs have scored a new pavilion complete with female friendly changerooms and umpire rooms, a first aid room, refurbished kitchen, storage facilities, community space and spectator viewing areas.
This will give the clubs the opportunity to welcome more female players and people of all abilities and provide club officials with greater flexibility for scheduling training and competitions.
Across Victoria, we’ve invested more than $850 million in community sport and active recreation infrastructure since 2014.
The Government also acknowledged Darebin City Council, Darebin Women’s Sports Club and Preston Druids for their commitment and significant contributions to the project.
